Mangiamo Pronto began life in Santa Fe, NM, in the fall of 2008. Fritz and Kathy Holland, who are frequent travelers to Italy and Europe, were inspired to open an Italian café and bar in a city that is very reminiscent of an old European town. The fare is fresh, authentic, Italian street food. Open for breakfast, lunch and seasonal dinners, the food is made fresh in-house, including a variety of gelato. During the summer months, Happy Hour is served on one of Santa Fe’s most enjoyable patios with antipasti and domestic & European wine & beer.
Fritz and Kathy Holland are the owners of mangiamo pronto! Kathy began her love affair of Italy in college when she spent a semester in Siena studying Italian folklore, art & literature. She was so enamored with the town that, after graduating, she returned to live there for two years. Kathy met Fritz in Denver 30+ years ago and were married in the Loretto Chapel. She convinced him that they should do a bicycle trip across Italy with Ciclismo Classico. He couldn’t help but fall in love with Italy, the Italians, and Italian food as well. When Fritz sold his business in 2005, he said it was time to move to Santa Fe. They opened an Italian café on Read Street in 2008. When the larger location across the street from the Inn at Loretto became available, they were excited to move. Who knew when they were married, that one day they’d end up owning a café’/trattoria just a few steps away from where they were married?
